Emotional Intelligence of school teachers

Emotional Intelligence is one of the predominant factors that influence in personal and as well as their professional lives of human beings. According to Goleman(1998), 80% of a person’s success in life depends on one’s emotional intelligence and 20% depends on IQ. In the teaching profession, we know the teacher undergoes the stress due to the changes in educational policies, globalization, liberalization, and advances in information technology. Hence emotional intelligence plays an important role to become a successful teacher. Emotional intelligence can be developed continuously throughout the life and learn from experiences. The Skill India is only possible with the teachers with high emotional intelligence.

Evaluation of anti-ulcer activity of ethanolic extracts of indigofera tinctoria on albino rats

Ulcer is the most common prevalent gastro intestinal disorder, which affects approximately 10 -15% of people in the world. It makes major global health problem today. Ulcer is a open sore, it can be developed inside the inner lining of the stomach (gastric ulcer) or the small intestine (duodenal ulcer). Both the ulcers are also commonly referred as peptic ulcers. Objectives: The present study was carried out to investigate anti-ulcer activity of Ethanol extract of Indigofera tinctoria on albino rats. Materials and Methods: The present study was carried by pylorus ligation induced ulcer models in albino rats. The antiulcer activity of ethanol extracts of Indigofera tinctoria (125, 250 mg/kg p.o. 7 days) was compared with standard drugs (Famotidine). In pyloric ligation induced ulcer model, the studied parameters were gastric volume, pH, total acidity, ulcer score, and ulcer index. Results: In pyloric ligation model; the volume of gastric content, total acidity, ulcer score were significantly decreased at p<0.01 and pH of the gastric juice was significantly increased at p<0.05 in EEIT treated groups as compared to control group. All the doses of EEIT showed dose dependent antiulcer effect as well as significant (p<0.01) reduction in the ulcer index as compared to control group in all the experimental models. The ethanol extract of EEIT at 250 mg/kg has more potent antiulcer activity than 125 mg/kg of ethanol extract of EEIT. Conclusion: The results of the study indicate that the EEIT has better potential against ulcer which supports the traditional claims in folklore medicine.

Correlation between grip strength and scapular muscle

The human hand is designed to perform various kinds of skilled movements in the daily activities. Such activities are termed as ‘Prehension Activities’. Grip strength has been used to assess general strength in order to determine work capacity, to determine the extent of injury and disease processes and progress of rehabilitation. To perform distal movements it is important to have proximal joint stability. The hand being the distal component, a good grip might require adequate shoulder stability which will be dependent upon its musculature. Hence this study was conducted to find out if there exists a correlation between these two. Aim: To find out if there is a correlation between grip strength and scapular muscles Methodology: Grip strength assessment was done using dynamometer and scapular muscle strength was assessed using Micro-FET. Results: Pearson’s correlation coefficient was calculated for the correlation between grip strength and scapular muscle strength Conclusion: There is the statistically significant correlation between grip strength and scapular muscle strength

Consumerism and consumer protection- A study on consumer dispute redressal forum in India

Consumers play a very important role in the development of an economic system, no business activities without the consumers. Protection of the interest of the consumer is also a very essential and integral part of the economic system of the country. Though there is no activity without the consumer, although the consumers are being exploited by the unscrupulous manufacturers, traders and some business peoples and they are losing their pleasure and happiness. In view of this, the consumer redressal forum has been established by the Government of India to protect the interest of the consumer, those who have disputes, grievances, and litigations with regard to trading activity without financial burden. The present paper focuses on consumerism and the performance of Consumer Dispute Redressal Forum (CDRF) and also the challenges before the working of the forum. The performance of the forum is analyzed based on a number of cases filed and disposed of and pending at the National level State level and District level forum. For analyzing the performance ANOVA statistical tool has been applied to find the relation between the cases pending and disposed of.

A study to assess the knowledge and attitude of adolescents regarding reactive attachment disorder among selected PU colleges, Bangalore

While it's not known if reactive attachment disorder can be prevented with certainty, there may be ways to reduce the risk of its development. Education about attachment issues, and adult with attachment problems, should get help without delay. Seeing a mental health provider not only may help, but also may prevent from having further attachment problems with their children.13So the research is aimed to study knowledge and attitude of adolescents regarding management of reactive attachment disorder. A descriptive correlation approach was used to assess the knowledge and attitude of adolescents regarding Reactive Attachment Disorder in selected PU colleges, Bangalore. The research design selected for the study was non- experimental descriptive correlational study design to assess the knowledge and attitude of adolescents regarding Reactive Attachment Disorder in selected PU colleges, Bangalore. The study was conducted in selected PU Colleges, Banglore. The investigator planned arbitrarily to take 80 adolescents, of selected colleges, Bangalore and who are available at the time of data collection and to fulfill the inclusion criteria selected by using simple random sampling technique. The present study assessed the level of knowledge and attitude of adolescents regarding reactive attachment disorder. The results revealed that majority (70.0 %) of them have inadequate knowledge, 30.0% have moderately adequate knowledge none of them have adequate knowledge. And coming to attitude majority (77.5%) of them have moderately favorable attitude, 22.5% of them have favorable attitude and none of them have unfavorable attitude. Demographic variables like age, year of studying and attachment pattern have influence over the knowledge and attitude.
