Assessment on marital adjustment of men with respect to their length of marital life, level of education and income levels

Men, among living beings, have the highest capacities to adapt to new situations. Men not only adapt to physical demands but also adjust to social pressures in the society. Individual behavior and social attitudes do not develop in a vacuum. In this attempt to fulfill his personal and social needs an individual make a variety of adjustments to people, circumstances and events. A healthy society requires a healthy family and marital adjustment is one of its requirements. Marital adjustment is the process of modifying, adopting or altering individual and couples of pattern of behavior and interaction to achieve maximum satisfaction in the relationship. There are many socio-economic factors which affect the marital adjustment. Hence the present study aimed to explore the effect of the length of marital life, education and income of men towards their marital adjustment.

Effect of different doses of nitrogen and phosphorus on growth and yield potato (Solanum tuberosum L.)

A field experiment was conducted during the spring season of 2014-15 on clayey soils of Agriculture Faculty of Baghlan University, to study the effect of different doses of nitrogen and phosphorus on growth, yield, and economics of potato (Solanum tuberosum L.). The experiment was laid in a randomized block design (RBD) comprised of 3 replication and sixteen treatments. Application of Nitrogen 250 kg+Phosphorus 175 kg/ha taller plants (41.83cm), higher number of leaves per plant (30.41 ), number of branches per plant ( 4.73), significantly wider leaf area (113.43 cm), higher tuber weight (216.11 g per plant), number of tuber per plant (4.14) significantly higher tuber yield (14.70 ton/ha) and B:C (5.49).

Comparative study of therapeutic efficacy of conservative management and ultrasound guided pigtail drainage of amoebic liver abscess

Liver abscess is a common condition in India which is associated with high morbidity and mortality. ALA is the most common extra intestinal site of infection but occurs in only less than 1% of E. histolytica infections. The mortality rate has been estimated to be around 0.2-2.0% in adults and up to 26% in children. There are many options in managing amoebic liver abscess such as medical management, percutaneous or open surgical drainage. Until now there have been no studies which have compared the therapeutic efficacy between pigtail drainage and conservative management in medium-sized (5 to 10 cm). Nor is there any prospective study aimed at identifying parameters for instituting medical management versus drainage procedure for abscesses measuring between 5.0 and 10.0 cm. The aim of this paper is to compare the efficacy of conservative medical management to ultrasound-guided pigtail drainage and establish objective criteria for the management of such abscesses. This is a prospective study of 100 cases of amoebic liver abscess (ALA) of medium size (5 to 10 cm) presenting to the Surgical Emergency and Surgical Outpatient Department of Hindu Rao Hospital from the period January 2014 to March 2015. All patients included were diagnosed as having an amoebic liver abscess (ALA) based on a history of anorexia, malaise, fever and pain abdomen with or without a preceding history of diarrhea and findings of tender hepatomegaly, intercostal tenderness, leucocytosis amoebic serology (ELISA) and ultrasound evidence of amoebic liver abscess. Patients were randomly allocated into two groups by double-blinded secret envelop method. Group, I patients consisted of 25 patients who were treated with antiamoebic (metronidazole 750 mg tid / IV 500mg 6 hourly) and antibiotic (ciprofloxacin 500 mg bd) drugs. Group II patients also consisted of 25 patients who were treated by ultrasound-guided indwelling pigtail catheter drainage in addition to antiamoebic (metronidazole) and antibiotic (ciprofloxacin) drugs. Improvement in pain, fever, anorexia and clinical signs of hepatomegaly, pulse rate, respiratory rate, and USG abdomen within 72 hours of an institution of therapy was considered as criteria for continuing that particular modality of treatment. At three to five days, patients’ outcome was assessed and if they did not respond to the first modality of treatment, the patient was subjected to the second modality of treatment, i.e. conservative converted to pigtail insertion and patients with pigtail insertion for drainage. A comparison was made between clinical signs and investigations to assess the patients It was found all patients of Study Group II (pigtail drainage) had earlier improvement of all parameters of response to than patients in Study Group I (conservative management) and this response was significant. Another significant finding of this study was abscesses of size > 10 cm should be aspirated or drained. This study showed that the abscesses of size between 6.0 cm to 10.0 cm should be taken up for pigtail catheter drainage at presentation as the time of resolution and improvement in clinical and investigative parameters were more rapid in Group II as compared to Study Group I with almost no complications associated with pigtail insertion. For abscesses >10 cm and in those ALA associated with complications insertion of pigtail was beneficial. Abscesses less than 6.0 cm could be managed with medical treatment alone.

Preparation of polyurethane coating based on polyesteramide polyol of castor oil of fatty acid and isocyanate

Polyurethane networks based on polyesteramide polyol using castor oil and diethanolamide (DEA) were proposed to study doing this wide. To utilize oil in the preparation of polyesteramide polyol (PEA). The chemical structure of the synthesized resin was characterized by spectroscopic techniques like FTIR, NMR etc. Various physical properties such as acid value, saponification value, iodine value, hydroxyl value, the amine value of resin were also determined. CO was then converted into diethanolamide castor oil of mixed fatty acid using 0.5 % sodium methoxide as a catalyst and converted to polyesteramide resin after with various dibasic acid in presence of xylene as azeotropic solvent. PU themselves were prepared from the reaction of polyester amide polyol of castor oil (PEA) and isocyanate-terminated polyurethane prepolymer. The PU coating obtained was then analyzed for its physical-chemical, film performance properties and resistance to the various chemical.

Assessment of noise pollution in Raipur city of Chhattisgarh, India

In developing countries like India Assessment of Noise pollution is an important task. Noise pollution adversely affects the health of human beings. The most important noises sources of noise are road traffic, aircraft, railways and industries, noise in the community from industrial and construction site and noise at home. Road traffic is by far the largest of these, and accounts for about 78 per cent of noise annoyance. In India, vehicular traffic is increasing rapidly, which has given birth to overcrowded roads and noise pollution. This study is primarily focusing on the monitoring of noise pollution at different places of Raipur City. In this study, noise monitoring was carried out with the help of sound level meter model (VA8080). Some important places of Raipur have been selected for noise level study purpose. All the places are categorized under different zones i.e. commercial zone, silent zone, industrial zone, and residential zone. All data were collected between 07:00 am to 09:00 p.m. Every hour the noise levels have been measured. To make the noise level more accurate each reading were taken in a gap of 6 minutes, that is, 10 readings per hour. And the average of the readings was taken as per hour sound intensity level. The study period of the survey was 15 days. Therefore this study reveals that the noise levels are higher than the standard level foe each zones.
