A study to assess the effectiveness of planned teaching programme on knowledge regarding prevention of occupational hazards among garbage handlers working at selected areas of Sangli, Miraj, Kupwad Corporation

The garbage handlers refer to, those workers who collects garbage and waste materials produced from the community or society. The garbage handlers have more chances to the occurrence of occupational diseases. The garbage handlers should know the knowledge of preventive measures for occupational diseases. The topic was ‘ A study to assess the effectiveness of planned teaching programme on knowledge regarding prevention of occupational hazards among garbage handlers working at selected areas of Sangli, Miraj, Kupwad Corporation’. The objectives of study were 1) To assess the existing knowledge regarding the prevention of occupational hazards among garbage handlers. 2) To assess the effectiveness of planned teaching programme on knowledge regarding prevention of occupational hazards among garbage handlers. 3) To find out the association between the pre-test knowledge score and selected demographic variables. In this study, 40 samples were included. Of which 60% was male and 40% was female samples. All age groups were covered at the time of sampling. The pilot study was conducted in Sangliwadi area and final study was conducted in Sangli area. The planned teaching was effective among garbage handlers. The post-test knowledge score was significantly increased. In the finding of the study showed that there was no significant association between pre-test knowledge with selected demographic variables.

SMTP attacks and detection using data mining (Information gathering)

The SMTP protocol is used to send and receive of e-mail messages and control headers the whole body of messages that are opposed to other protocols after the message is delivered a detailed record of the e-mail transactions in the receiver mailbox. SMTP headers can be used to map the networks and the information on the messaging software gateways.

Influence of surface treatments on chopped strand mat E-glass fiber reinforced with Epoxy polymer matrix composites

The present work revolves around the investigations carried out on Fiber surface Treated Chopped Strand Mat (CSM) E-Glass fiber reinforced Epoxy matrix composites. Hand lay-up technique was used to fabricate the Epoxy based polymer matrix Composites reinforced with treated CSM E-glass fiber with a volume fraction of 3.42%. The three types of treatments were done on Chopped strand mat E-Glass fibers, namely no surface treatment, Heat treatment and Ethyl Silicate coating on heat treated E-glass fibers were used to evaluate the mechanical properties of the epoxy composites. The composites were subjected to mechanical tests preferably to determine tensile, flexural and Impact strengths. The test results showed that there has been a marked improvement in the mechanical properties of composites reinforced with fiber surface treated CSM E-Glass Fibers. E-Glass Fibers treated with Ethyl Silicate shows remarkable improvement in mechanical properties. Experimental results of mechanical properties for different surface treatment of E-glass fiber were evaluated and compared to conclude.

Generation of electricity from dye industry wastewater in dual chamber fed batch operating microbial fuel cell

Dye wastewater causes a major problem while discharging into the environment due to the presence of various toxic content. In this study, dye wastewater is treated using dual chamber MFC with the generation of electricity. The power generation and pollutant removal efficiency in the dye wastewater treatment using dual chamber MFC was examined at different HRT, which varied from 35 - 7 days. The maximum TCOD and SCOD removal of 66.10% and 57.94 % respectively were attained at the HRT of 35 days. In 20 days HRT, the maximum power density of 96.85mWm-2 and coulombic efficiency of 60.54% was procured.

Communication skills among polytechnic students

Communication skills are one of the broad skills that are believed to be important among engineers today. The students’ graduating from Polytechnic colleges lack the modern talents and skills that set the eligibility for creating for recruitment in corporate companies. The students coming out with matriculation, in general, are not exposed to various nuances of English language and its utility. The English teachers of polytechnic college have a great responsibility of imparting communication and soft skills in students. The real pathetic condition prevailing in our country is that the teacher is indifferent to this and delightful in completing the syllabus and making the student score good grades in their end semester examination. Developing communication skills of the students are conveniently ignored. This paper attempts to investigate the present system and find out the possible avenues to develop the common skills especially communications skills among polytechnic students.

Sensotronic brake control and brake wear sensor

Sensotronic Braking Control is an innovative Braking technology introduced by Mercedes. It is an electrically controlled braking system which is more precise than the conventional hydraulic system. SBC reduces the stopping distance by identifying the situation in hand. When the driver presses the brake paddle the calculations are made by sensors and signals are fed to a microcomputer which makes the further calculation is generated optimum braking pressure on each wheel. Due to high-pressure reservoir & electronically controllable valves, maximum brake pressure is generated sooner. SBC offers more safety in case of corner braking or on the slippery surface than conventional Hydraulic Braking. Moreover, this technology reduces the workload on the driver in traffic. The SOFT-STOP feature allows soft and smooth stopping in city traffic. In case if SBC fails due to malfunction then a backup hydraulic braking is provided for additional safety. But for an effective braking system conditions of the brake pad and brake lining is to be ensured. Hence a microsensor is incorporated into a brake pad on a special test rig. This sensor calculates the thickness of the brake lining, its hardness and critical wear region of the brake pad. This system very effective in alerting the driver when wear of brake pads reaches the maximum limit and hence avoids further damage to the vehicle.
