Energy saving on 90TR chiller system at SASTRA deemed university

The Energy saving on the Chiller systems has many advantages such as cost reduction due to power savings and the reduction of the maximum demand without changing on the cooling effect. The old chiller models have a compressor driven by a constant-speed induction motor directly connected the 3phase power supply with separate Air handling unit (AHU). This system takes large starting current and the large variation in room temperature which is controlled by a static on-off controller. The energy loss is owing to frequent on-off cycles when the room temperature is close to the preset value. Hence the inverter system is introduced on the chiller for the significant energy saving and demand reduction on the power supply. The practical results on power consumption were compared and the energy consumption can be reduced to less than half that of an old one, with chiller inverter model. The investment cost in the replacement of chiller by new VRV system can be recovered in short duration by the amount of saved energy.

Ontology based digital library search system for enhanced information retrieval in engineering domain

Recent years have seen an exponential increase in the amount of available information in both print medium and electronic medium. The acceptance of electronic/digital medium has increased dramatically in recent years, which had led to the demand for more organized and accessible information in the digital medium. Hence, Digital libraries (DL’s) emerged as the digital counterpart of the traditional library system. Digital library environments had negated the traditional limits on representation and distribution of information, by facilitating global access, round the clock service, classification, and organization of the available information, by adding more information retrieval elements. Another challenge emerged with the advancement of technology, which had increased applications of new forms of information, such as multimedia files, scientific data, unstructured data, semi-structured data, heterogeneous structured data, which is being generated, stored and utilized by digital libraries worldwide. There a large amount of data generated every day for different domains such as medicine, healthcare, engineering, energy, and more. As a consequence, retrieving relevant information related to any domain from heterogeneous knowledge sources had become a challenging task. Ontologies have emerged as a potential solution in this field, as they have the ability to manage information resources efficiently, manage web complexities, and automate bibliofigureic storage and annotation management and more. Ontologies play a significant role in digital libraries by promoting interoperability by defining a common vocabulary for the ease of sharing information in a particular domain. Ontologies also tackle the challenge presented by the availability of heterogeneous information sources and improve the accuracy of information retrieval. This paper discusses, the need and potential applications of domain-specific ontologies and semantic technologies in DL’s, which can be used to address the issue of increasing volume of information as well as enhancing the information retrieval capacity of Digital Libraries. The paper also discusses the designing and developing of domain-specific ontologies for Digital Library and suggest a model of Ontology-based Digital Library search system which retrieves exact results for queries and eliminates irrelevant results by having refined queries

Comparison of strength parameters between AAC blocks and clay bricks for building construction using STAAD Pro

Burnt clay brick is a predominant construction material used in construction. The CO2 emissions in the brick manufacturing process had been acknowledged as a significant factor to global warming. Therefore, now a- days we should focus more on seeking environmental solutions for greener environment. To fulfil this objective, new construction materials can be used for construction. One such material i.e., AAC blocks can be used as an alternative material for construction. This work highlights the comparative statistical analysis of cost-effectiveness of using AAC blocks instead of traditional red bricks. The usage of AAC blocks gives a prospective solution to construction industry along with environmental preservation. In this work, an attempt has been made to compare AAC blocks as a replacement material to red bricks. This work shows the analysis and comparison between the G+6 and G+2 building with different material in terms of bricks. The bricks which are taken for first building analysis is burnt clay bricks and for second building analysis is AAC blocks. This analysis is done by STAAD-Pro software and in result shows the reduction in overall cost of construction by using AAC blocks.

The impact of adopting six sigma to improve total quality management practices applied study in Najaf cement plant

Global and local organizations face many changes and challenges. These challenges have led to the emergence of new concepts in the management of organizations that seek to achieve the goal of survival and continuity in the world of competition by changing their traditional methods that are not commensurate with the challenges faced by organizations. Dealing with the challenges they face and overcoming them to achieve better performance. One of these tools is six sigma. The current study aims to identify the impact of six sigma to improve total quality management, a sample of 64 employees was selected randomly from Najaf cement plant, and the results indicate there is an impact of six sigma on total quality management.

Machine learning based approach for fault tolerance in cloud computing

Cloud computing is a rising area that is currently engaged towards many of the IT industries. Bearing with the cloud architecture is the difficult challenge for us. This challenge can be achievable by fault tolerance and monitoring. Methods/Statistical Analysis: Fault Tolerance (FT) facilitates the process or the component to work smoothly even though in the occurrence of the failure. Monitoring is a procedure in which the fault is predicted before it occurs. Proactive and reactive measures can take place to run the cloud environment with tolerance in failure occurrence. Reviewing the potential of FT and monitoring services is to make out the technique that serves in certain purpose. Fault tolerance systems are important for both providers of cloud services and customers. Findings: Based on this idea, this paper provides the different or diverse fault tolerance and monitoring mechanism to improve the reliability in a cloud environment. Applications/Improvements: It presents the information about the various techniques and methods used in the FT and also a future research direction in cloud FT.
