CFD analysis of diffuser augmented wind turbine

Flanged Diffuser is a collecting-accelerating device that shrouds a turbine. Forgiven rotary engine diameter, the power augmentation may be achieved by a brimmed diffuser, popularly known as wind lens. the current numerical investigation deals with the result of the low region created by wind lens to analyze the sturdy vortices shaped by brim connected to the shrouded diffuser at the exit. additionally, during this analysis, a comparative numerical prediction of mass flow rates the turbine has been allotted with numerous sorts of wind lens that successively helps to optimize the torque augmentation. it's been well-tried that there's an important increase within the vortex strength & wake formation once the brimfull effect is added to a diffuser.

Real time anti-theft vehicle tracking system using GSM and GPS

There is a drastic increase in the number of crimes involving vehicle theft. This can be avoided by using Real-time anti-theft and tracking mechanism using GSM and GPS. In the current scenario, it takes a minimum of two days to find the lost or the stolen vehicle. Vehicle tracking mechanism alerts the owner or the user of the vehicle with the message at the time of theft occurred. Moreover, this mechanism helps to find the location of the theft vehicle by using GSM and GPS at any time and also stores the message by the application in the mobile. Vehicle tracking mechanism helps to prevent and reduce the theft of vehicles. Further, these types of devices are less expensive and also affordable for all vehicle owners. The ability to track vehicles is useful in many applications including the security of personal vehicles, public transportation systems, School buses, and others. Therefore, the development of vehicle tracking system using the Global Positioning System (GPS) and Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) modem is with the aim of enabling users to locate their vehicles with ease and in a useful manner. The system will provide users with the capability to track vehicle remotely through the mobile network.

Risk assessment and safe handling practices while using Asbestos in industries

Asbestos is the name given to a group of mineral fibers that was widely used as a building material prior to 1990s in a variety of products due to excellent strength, insulation, and fire resistant properties. The chrysotile fiber is also known as “White Asbestos” is used in the manufacturing of asbestos cement roof sheets and asbestos fiber cement sheets by implementing the “INDIAN STANDARDS” ( IS 11451, IS 11767, IS 11768, IS 12078, IS 12079, IS 12080). The principal concerns are the development of Asbestosis, Lung cancer, Pleural thickening, and mesothelioma. These concerns can be controlled and prevented at a minimum level.

Home automation and security systems using IoT and open source platforms

This paper discusses the design and implementation details of home automation, monitoring, and security system using the Internet of Things (IoT) and some open source technologies. The IoT is the network of physical objects or “Things” embedded with electronics, software, sensors and network connectivity which enable these objects to collect and exchange data. The user here can interact directly with the system through a web-based interface over the Internet, while monitoring and control of domestic home appliances such as lights are remotely controlled through a user-friendly web page. Monitoring is carried out by sending the sensor data to an open source platform called Thinger which shows the status of the device and also the location of the device with values of the sensor.

Analysis of multistoried building using E-Tabs

The main objective of this project is to protect the building by designing it as earthquake resistance structure. “Base Isolation’’ is one of the most widely accepted seismic protection system used in building a structure in an earthquake-prone area. There are many types of base isolation systems but Lead rubber Bearing (LRB) is used as base isolation system in this project, LRB is most widely used as isolation system for a building. So, in this paper, we analyzed the structure with base isolation by using E-Tab software & by adopting a Time History Analysis Method. Base Isolation system for the building is introduced to decouple the building structure from potentially damaging effect by earthquake motion and to make a comparison between the isolated base & fixed base building.

Design and development of planetary gearbox for variable performance

In the commercial cars, the generally conventional gearbox is used, but in an all-terrain vehicle and military combat vehicle automatic transmission is used, where continuous variable transmission (CVT) is coupled with the epicyclic gearbox or generally recognized by the planetary gearbox. In this type of gearbox, we are establishing a gear train with high torque in a compact and light package. Here we are designing single stage planetary gearbox with co-axial alignment. Epicyclic gearing arrangements are comprised of four different elements that produce a wide range of speed ratios in a compact layout. These elements are: (1) Sun gear, an externally toothed ring gear co-axial with the gear train; (2) Annulus, an internally toothed ring gear co-axial with the gear train; (3) Planets, externally toothed gears which mesh with the sun and annulus; and (4) Planet Carrier, a support structure for the planets, co-axial with the train. The name "epicyclic" is derived from the curve traced by a point on the circumference of a circle as it rolls on the circumference of a second fixed circle.
