An exploratory study to assess the stress and coping pattern among the employees of insurance company at Gwalior (M. P.)

An exploratory study to assess the stress and coping pattern among the employees of insurance company at Gwalior (M.P). To assess the levels of stress among the employees of insurance company. To assess the coping pattern among the employees of insurance company. To find out the relationship between the stress and coping pattern among the employees of insurance company. To find out the relationship of stress level with variables such as age Religion, education, type of family, marital status, head of family and economic status. To find out the relationship of coping pattern with variables such as age, religion, education, type of family, marital status, head of family and economic status. For the present study exploratory approach was considered appropriate. The purposive sampling method was adapted to collect the sample. Majority of employees have moderate stress (95%) and (5%) have mild stress. Majority of employees in insurance company have positive coping pattern (82%) and (18%) have negative coping pattern. Relationship between stress and coping pattern among employees of insurance company was having negative correlation (-.142) and statistically non-significant. The employees from selected insurance company have positive coping pattern as there age advances. The findings were also statistically significant at p level. The employees from joint family have positive coping pattern as compared to nuclear and extended family. These findings were also statistically significant at p level. The employees who are head of the family their coping pattern was negative as compare to others. These findings were also statistically significant at p level. Those employees who are (separated, divorced, spouse not living, spouse living) clubbed together as separated, had positive coping pattern as compared to married. These findings were also statistically significant at p level. The employees with adequate economic status their coping pattern was positive as compared to those who have inadequate economic status. These findings were also statistically significant at p level.

A single-phase integrated onboard battery charger using three-phase AC motor for plug-in electric vehicles with PFC

The growing market of plugin hybrid electric vehicle has certain limitations like more charging time, less driving range and fewer charging stations. PHEV chargers are classified as off-board and on-board chargers. Off-board chargers provide fast charging takes 20 mins to 1 hour while onboard chargers provide office daytime or home overnight charging takes 4 to 10 hours to fully charge a PEV battery. In this paper, a single-phase integrated onboard charger, using the PEV three phase ac machine and its traction converter, is proposed. The charging process enables Power Factor Correction (PFC) at the source end. Three phase winding of the AC machine is utilized as a mutually coupled inductor to produce a two-channel boost converter. A 3-kW prototype using a 220-Vrms, 3-phase PMSM is built to experimentally verify the performance of the proposed integrated charging approach. A nearly unity Power Factor (PF) and 3.96% Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of input ac current is acquired with a maximum efficiency of 93.1%.

Formulation and evaluation of alfuzosin hydrochloride extended release tablets

Purpose The aim of the study was to design extended release tablets capable of producing a 20 h extended release profile there by eliminating the use of immediate release tablets which require a frequent administration of three tablets containing 2.5 mg of alfuzosin hydrochloride of daily dose. The present study deals with formulation of Alfuzosin Hydrochloride extended release tablets. Benign prostatic hyperplasia is a noncancerous prostate problem in which the normal elements of the prostate gland grow in size and number, requires an alpha-adrenergic blocker which is having optimum therapeutic window concentration for a prolonged duration. With the above characteristics Alfuzosin Hydrochloride was selected as active therapeutic agent. Methods. Alfuzosin HCl extended release matrix tablets were prepared by direct compression method by employing hydrophilic polymer HPMC K 100 M and Crosslinked xyloglucan (XG).The crosslinked XG was prepared by crosslinking of natural polysaccharide i.e XG with crosslinking agent Sodium trimetaphosphate (STMP). Simplex centroid design was applied for the optimization process. The prepared tablets were evaluated for various physicochemical parameters by official procedures. The in-vitro release study of matrix tablets was carried out in 0.01N HCl for 24 hours. Results. The tablets exhibited acceptable physicochemical characteristics and extended drug release pattern was observed for about 20h. Analysis of drug release data from the matrix system indicated that the drug release follows zero order kinetics by anomalous (non-fickian) diffusion. Conclusion. The crosslinked XG alongwith HPMC K 100M & DCP showed the potential for prolonged delivery of Alfuzosin over a 20 h period and therefore may be a suitable candidate for use in sustained release drug delivery system.

Availability of physical and infrastructure resources facilitating agricultural commodity trading in north Karnataka

Today in current scenario agriculture markets are the hub of the rural economy. Agricultural marketing today means more than linking the producer with the consumer, it includes the creation of a favorable economic environment for farmers to enthuse them to grow more and get proceeds from transactions. Many alternative forms, such as cooperative marketing, group marketing, contract marketing, futures trading, direct marketing, and e-commerce are in vogue. Agricultural produce markets are nerve centers from where marketing impulses are transmitted to put all the marketing activity on track and safeguard the interest of both farmers and consumers. Finally efforts should be made in terms of setting up proper marketing infrastructure that will facilitate the market participants to carry out the trading activities and also provide awareness, training, practical experiences, support needed to small, marginal and medium farmers at village/rural areas in terms of newer ways of agriculture marketing channels so that every farmer will be able to adopt better marketing techniques like common online platforms for selling their produce and get the remunerative prices for the same.

Expense based performance assessment of financial institution

Performance of Financial Institutions is dependent on various aspects that can affect their growth. Many of them are standardized aspects such as Portfolio At Risk, Provision Expense Ratio, Risk Coverage Ratio, Write Off Ratio. Along with these, we introduce a scientific cost distribution value that we name as the Expense Accrual Ratio (EAR). Along with the other parameters of measurement, EAR can be used to assess if the health of a financial institution. In this paper, we explain the role and functioning of EAR along with ways of calculation of it with formulas for the derivation. The effect of dependent parameters on EAR is explored and the graphs are explained. Further, its impact on performance is analyzed with data references. Comparison is done with the current interest rates of the institution to derive at a conclusion based on EAR. Along with other parameters of the measure this can be used as a powerful tool to adjust the functioning of the financial institution to avoid further losses. The necessity to balance EAR for unforeseen or natural calamities has been pointed out for future work.

Government’s preparedness for disaster management based on Bhopal Gas Tragedy 1984

Disaster management is dealing with and avoiding risks. This involves emergency evacuation, disaster response, supporting and rebuilding society after natural or human-made disasters. During the tragedy Union Carbide India Ltd wasn’t prepared for a quick disaster management. Gas concentration in the areas ranged from 85 to 0.12ppm , people who were in deep sleep got awakened by coughing, severe eye irritation, feeling of suffocation and burning in respiratory tract. Thousands of people had died by the following morning. The problem was made worse by the plant’s location near a densely populated area, non-existent catastrophe plans, shortcomings in health care and socio-economic rehabilitation . Analysis shows that the parties responsible for the magnitude of the disaster are the two owners, Union Carbide Corporation and the Government of India and to some extent, the Government of Madhya Pradesh. From a Union Carbide factory killed a total of 16,000 people and injured half a million, Bhopal has become synonymous symbol with an absence of industrial safety measures.
