Control of position and swing angle of overhead crane using different controllers

A crane is a machine equipped with a hoist which is mainly used both to lift and lower materials and move them horizontally to different places. However, the underactuated structure of the crane makes difficult to control. In the practical situations, however, the achievement of both transporting trolley to target position and reducing payload sway is not always easy. The main objective is to evaluate different types of controllers for controlling the trolley position and swing motion by conducting a study on the position and swing angle characteristics of different controllers. The various controllers used for the analysis are conventional PID and PD controller, fuzzy-tuned PID and PD controller, LQR, and LQG. The analysis shows that the LQG controller has the best performance even in the presence of a disturbance.

A literature survey on digitizing the college administration ecosystem by developing single access point android mobile application

In the era of digitalization, we have witnessed a swift change from manual process of keeping and maintaining the records to doing the same using various technologies available, in a very easy and efficient manner, be it in the education or non-education sector. There have been individual systems available to manage and monitor various sub-systems in the academic sector (schools, colleges, universities) but today when we are moving towards creating a one-stop shop application accessible by every stakeholder of the respective system we couldn’t find any such application available; which in turn lead to the evolvement of a non-transparent, less effective and ambiguous academic administration system. Presently, the most common authentication scheme witnessed to confirm the identity of a person and uniquely defining ‘’who the person is?’’ is by using the biometric fingerprint scanning system. With the proposed system the student identity can be uniquely defined and also can be used in various administration processes thereby, enabling the college campus an e-campus with the purpose of making the student interaction with various services in the college, efficient, time-saving and transparent. This study explored the usage and applications of biometric fingerprint scanning system in integrating the services of the college ecosystem, to be availed by all the stakeholders at any point in time with a survey carried out in Delhi/NCR region of India.

Auto switching car door-lock system based on facial recognition using MATLAB

Door-locks and its corresponding technology form an important aspect in today’s technological sphere and are essential in protecting one’s belongings. The objective of this project is to recognize and annotate the human action in an unconstrained environment, where the images contain a huge range of variability for car door lock system. A high-level security mechanism is provided by the consecutive actions such as initially system captures the human face and check whether the human face is detected properly or not. If the face is not detected properly, it warns the user to adjust his/her face properly to access the system. Still, if the face is not detected properly the system will lock the door of the car for security purpose. As soon as the door is locked, the system will automatically generate a password. After the system recognizes the face it sends a signal to the main door-lock unit which response by granting access to the individual by opening the door of the car. This high security is achieved using this car door lock system.

Metal, fire and light detection robot with advanced wireless Bluetooth control

The concept of our project is to control and monitor trough mobile app using blue-tooth the elements like based on sensing elements fire, metal through the code embedded in the microcontroller. The code is written in general purpose microcontroller for the purpose of affordability and availability of microcontrollers like MCS-51 series, pic-series, Motorola etc. Here we have taken inputs from three sensors named as the metal detector for metal sensing, LDR for fire and a combination of LDR and LED. All the above three convert analog parameters into the voltage by keeping them on potential divider networks. After calibration with potential divider network, the output voltage is fed to 8-bit, 8-channel ADC. The ADC converts analog parameters into 8-bit digital code. The microcontroller gets data from ADC and analyses with predefined values and takes necessary control action based on the predefined values. It has got two modes - Manual Mode and Automatic Mode. In the manual mode, it gives an alarm for all the parameters, but control action will not be taken. In the automatic mode, the program in the microcontroller controls all the three parameters.

Comparative analysis of clustering algorithms in wireless sensor networks

In recent years, Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) gained popularity in sensing information from an interesting area. Day by day new technologies are emerging with innovative features, which make this field active for development and research oriented work. Since the available energy of sensor nodes are limited and hard to renew, energy supervision is critical for nodes and network lifetime in wireless sensor networks. In this paper, clustering algorithms like LEACH, K-means, Fuzzy c means are applied in WSN scenario for sensing applications to reduce energy consumption. We propose modifications on the above-mentioned algorithms by selecting cluster heads (CH) based on the residual energy of the sensor nodes. Simulation results show that the proposed approach produces better cluster head energy efficiency.

Structural analysis of non-linear pipe bends

Pipe bends are most important necessary for all kind of industries in terms of pipelining materials. Pipe bend is very difficult to avoid thickening on the inner side of the pipe bend and thinning of the outer side of the pipe bend. The cross-section also becomes non-circular due to bending process; this tends to cause ovality and thinning in pipe bends. ovality is the main cause to fail the pipe. This study is an attempt to analyze the stainless steel tube.We are going to apply both internal load an external load on the pipe. The internal load we are applying as pressure and external load we are going to applying by using spring balance The stainless steel tube with Diameter 42.2mm and thickness 3mm and bend radius of 250 mm for the percentage of ovality varied from 0 to 20 is considered for doing the analysis. The pipe bend geometry is imported into ANSYS as IGES file and the convergence study was performed. Workbench option is invoked in the analysis for better results. The results of the analysis presented in the form of total deflection and stresses for incremented internal pressure was computed for the various percentage of ovality. During this process, the bend undergoes plastic instability due to pressure and bending. Pipe bends improve the pipe quality and trustworthiness in terms of pipe bend analysis. Finally, the induced stress intensity and deformation of the pipe due to internal pressure and bending were noted.
