Abstract

In today’s dynamic business environment, technology plays a very important role to maintain a competitive advantage in the marketplace. Firms need to balance the resources available to them and upgrade their systems related to technology-driven automation (IT), to achieve the desired results for profitability, survival as well as for improving the quality of the product. The study aimed to investigate the impact of Human Resource Information System (HRIS) on Organisational Efficiency in Vedanta Limited, Jharsuguda (Odisha), through examining if the sub-dimensions such as Human Resource Function, Time Management, Cost Management, & Managerial Satisfaction have a significant impact on Organisational Efficiency or not. The study also aimed to find out the level of Employee Satisfaction (End-users) towards the HRIS System. The data was collected using the Questionnaire instrument comprising of 32 items. A sample of 100 employees was drawn from a population using simple random sampling, the psychometric properties (Reliability & Validity) was statistically assessed. Data were analyzed using inferential statistic. The result indicates that HRIS significantly enhances overall organizational efficiency and its sub-dimensions (HR functions, time management, cost management and managerial satisfaction with the system) in an inter-related and holistic manner, though in varying degrees and hence, there is much more improvement in the HR functions of the organization. The result shows that tenure, work experience, and age has a significant relationship with the ‘level of satisfaction’ towards the HRIS system for ‘End-users’ of the selected organization. However, there is no significant relationship of the ‘level of satisfaction’ with gender for ‘End-users’ of selected organization.
